Cable locating on the South Shore before a pool, a spa or a home addition
In the South Shore suburbs, the backyard accumulates electrical equipment: pool, spa, heat pump, shed, lighting. Each has its own cable, often buried in a straight line from the house. Before you dig for a new project, we locate these cables, mark them in red or orange and give you a report within 24 hours.

Project typePool, spa, suburban addition
A suburban yard, several generations of connections
A South Shore property that has changed hands two or three times has often seen an old above-ground pool, a replaced spa, a detached garage. Cables from old equipment sometimes remain in the ground, live or not, and nobody remembers their exact route.
A new spa or heat pump generally needs a new cable, and it is precisely when digging that trench that you risk snagging the old one.
What we locate in the yard
- The power cable for the pool, spa or heat pump
- The cable to a detached garage or an electrified shed
- Landscape and gate lighting cables
- Telecom and coaxial cables along fences
A spa on a slab, an in-ground pool
For a spa, the survey covers the slab location and the route of the new cable. For an in-ground pool, it covers the entire excavation footprint and the machinery access. In both cases, the report specifies estimated depths and the areas where you should dig by hand.
Frequently asked questions
Can the cable from an old, removed pool still be live? It is possible if nobody disconnected it at the panel. The survey locates it; an electrician can then confirm its condition and deactivate it.
Does the power need to be shut off during the survey? No. Radio detection follows a live cable more easily. We will tell you if access to the panel or to a junction box is useful.
