People often think a fence or a low wall requires no particular precautions. Yet every post hole or pile can hit a power cable running to a garage, a pool, a yard light or a heat pump. These private cables are frequently buried at shallow depth, along existing fences, exactly where the new work takes place.

For a porch, a pergola or an addition on piles, each pile goes more than a metre into the ground. We scan the location of each pile and mark the zones to avoid. The report then supports the installer in moving a pile a few centimetres if needed.

Frequently asked questions

Can a de-energized cable be detected? Yes, but with a different method. Ground-penetrating radar detects the cable's contrast in the soil, and electromagnetic locating can trace a metallic cable if it can be connected to.

Does the whole property need to be covered for a fence? No. We scan the fence line and a safety strip on either side, which reduces the duration and cost of the survey.
